VACANT: 22 - Helping teachers at a local private school
Organisatie: Private school Regio: Turrialba, Costa Rica

Description of organization

Instituto Pedagógico Infantil Burbujitasis a private primary school and therefore richer and better organized. The school exists since 1985 and was started by the same director as they have now. With help from her parents she started this private school because the public schools didn’t fulfil her expectations. She started the school with the following vision: The smile of a child in the morning will last for the entire day. The idea is when children are happy; they are more motivated in the classes. The name Burbujitas, ´Bubbles´, is chosen as in air bubbles of a fish that are rising to the surface, meaning that the children get smarter every single day. In total they have 15 teachers for 90 children, divided in 10 groups.

What can you do?

You can work in the mornings, afternoons or both. As a volunteer you can help the teachers with their classes and with the different activities that are planned. Some kids will need some extra attention, so you’ll assist them with the help they need. If there is something that you’re good at, you can teach the children this too. They are always looking for English teachers. Most of the time you have `one on one` conversations with a child, so they can practice some more.

You are not obligated to bring a gift to the project, but if you want to bring something, here are some ideas; (colour) pencils, paint or something else for the children.
