Ever since this eco- hotel opened her doors in 1996 it´s a very beautiful place. It is a very calm and peaceful environment with all the beauty of wildlife around it. It is strongly committed to preserve the natural heritage. You immediately feel at home when passing the entrance. The female owner has a great passion and drive to develop sustainable projects and help local communities.
The hotel is rewarded with 4 out of the maximum of 5 leaves of the sustainable certification program in Costa Rica. They are involved in many projects one of them is the AMO Project which is an association for women. Others are a the turtle conservation Project and the Ojoche Project to reintroduce the Ojoche tree in the community.
The hotel offers 14 bungalows or so called ‘casitas’. Each casita has room for 4 people. They are built to match with the surrounding nature. They also offer a Spa, several tours, a restaurant with organic food and a swimming pool.
Activities for interns
The intern will help the managers with:
· Marketing
· Management of staff
· Reservations and planning
· Communication with clients and community projects
· Ojoche Project in the community, which includes offering and promoting tours of the Ojoche route to reintroduce the Ojoche trees in the community
· Develop a business plan for Ojochal information. An overall information center which at this moment has an office desk in the hotel.
Guidance
The supervisor for the internship is the Dutch owner of the hotel, and on day to day basis the manager is available for questions as well. The owner has 18 years of in fields of managing , administration and marketing.
Remarks
During your internship you can stay in a really nice homestay in the nearby village of Ojochal or you can rent a private room in a apart-hotel which is 45 min drive from the internship.
The hotel offers you lunch at the hotel during workdays. Workdays consist of a shift in the morning from 7-11 AM or the afternoon from 4- 10 PM. The other half of the day you can work in the information center or another Project doing marketing and communication.
The dress code is casual clothes but decent with knee length skirts or pants.
