Wildlife rehabilitation center
This wildlife rehabilitation center is located near the caribbean coast at Limón providence of Costa Rica, this is a temporary or permanent home for ill, injured and/ or orphaned animals. With a focus on birds, reptiles, amphibians and small primates, the center provides veterinary services, round-the-clock care and comfort to animals that would otherwise be unable to survive in the rainforest or the sea of the Caribbean.
Volunteering at the rehab center involves general cleaning and facility maintenance, food preparation and general care for a variety of animals. Please keep in mind that while volunteering here is an exciting, life-changing experience, it is also a great responsibility. You will take the care of the animals, and lack of attention can seriously harm them. While you will love being around animals, it is important to remember that their care and attention is your primary responsibility. Their little lives are in your hands.
You need to be able to speak Spanish and English at basic level. Talking about daily activities and situations is enough to start out. You will be learning while working there.
Volunteer Training begins every Monday morning at 11:00am. On this day, you will be introduced to the other volunteers, and get all the information you need to fully start your volunteering on the next day. Please keep in mind that the volunteer work includes different kinds of assignments and not just staying with the animals.
