This unique legal office is based in Masaya, Nicaragua. 
 
The office was founded after the change of government after the revolution of the 80's. There had been many official and inofficial legal changes in the country and many people, especially the poor, suffered from all these changes. As lot's of documentation had been lost and many govermental decision had not been made official yet it was very hard to issues like property rights. The legal office specialized in this need for the people who's land had been taken or divided. 
 
Later with the help of Spanish aid money, this legal office also started helping the improvement and execution of women rights. Trying to make social changes at grassroot level by educating strong women on there legal rights and have them teach and assist other women needing their help and knowledge. Their efforts, among the efforts of many others, have changed the law and have improved the womens marital rights and law and regulations concerning violence against women has strongly improved. This project is still running nowadays and as an intern you can take part in teaching new women their rights and help them find their way to execute their rights. This work is done as in- and outside the office. 
 
The legal office runs a likewise project for people with a disability and for their families.
 
It has three areas of specialization:
 
1. Legal: set up businesses and legal business problems , property issues and landtitles
 
2. Family& labour law
 
3. Social projects: right for registered identification, fight against violence for women rights ( mujer a mujer, and a organisation for right of people with disabilities)
 
 
For many years this organisation has received money from Spanish NGO's and as they have a tie with Spain, they also have received over a 15 Spanish interns before. They were students from many different fields among which: law, social work, business administration.
 
 
There are 13 fulltime employees, they include: 6 lawyers, 1 social worker, 1 psycologist and assisting staff. Besides these people they almost permanently have 3 Nicaraguan interns from different careers but mostly from the legal field. 
 
Dress code is 'decent' so as a woman you wear something that covers your shoulders and is at least knee length. Also your toes should be covered.
 
Working hours: 8-12 14-17 Mon-Friday
 
As an intern you will have your own desk at the area of your internship and there is wifi available. After an orientation period of two week in which you get to know all employees and activities of the companies, you and your local supervisor decide which area of work suits your career, your personality and the office best. Your local supervisor will be a person who has a university degree. 
 
Working language is Spanish. Nobody within the company speaks English.
